Delphi, Greece. 28 March 1945. Pastoral scene in the Delphi district, near Athens which is in line of the withdrawal of the British forces. A Company of 2/5th Australian Infantry Battalion held a road demolition here covering the withdrawal of the left flank of the 6th Australian Division during the retirement to the evacuation beaches in Greece in April 1941. Note the pine trees and the Church in the background. Most of the trees in the Delphi area had been cut down by the Germans.
