England. 1943-06-25. A signal rating hoisting the Blue Ensign of the Commonwealth of Australia at the jackstaff of the cruiser Shropshire during the handing over ceremony of the warship from the British Navy to the Australian Navy. Shropshire had been offered by the British Government as a replacement for HMAS Canberra which had been lost in action.
