Appproximately 15,400 troops, British and Australian, were moved into Selarang Barrack Square, Changi, as a reprisal for refusing to sign a Non escape or Parole Declaration. This movement was known as the Barrack Square Incident. Shown is a section of the Barrack Square showing how the men rigged up shelters and tried to make themselves comfortable.
