Winnellie, NT. 1943-07-30. The staff car and motor cycle escort provided for NX2 Major General A.S. Allen, CB CBE DSO VD, General Officer Commanding 12th Australian Division Provost Unit, for his inspection of the area. The photograph was taken at Koonawarrah Wireless Station. Driver S. Welshman, the General's driver, is standing beside the car; the motor cycle riders, from the left, are, Corporal (Cpl) W. Hyland, Cpl A. Scoble, Cpl K. I. O'Donoghue and Cpl A. H. Cosson.
