THE PHOTOGRAPH WAS SECRETLY TAKEN BY AN AUSTRALIAN PRISONER OF WAR DURING HIS PERIOD OF CAPTIVITY BY THE JAPANESE IN MALAYA AND CONCEALED IN THE FALSE BOTTOM OF A WATER BOTTLE WHICH WAS LATER PRESENTED TO THE AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL.
