DescriptionTIMBERED KNOLL, NORTH OF ORODUBI, NEW GUINEA, 1943-07-29. PRIVATE W.H. DAWSON, VX50665, 2/3RD INDEPENDENT COMPANY, IN THE PROCESS OF ATTACKING JAPANESE PILLBOXES WHICH WERE HOLDING UP THE AUSTRALIAN ADVANCE. USING GRENADES AND HIS THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN, DAWSON INFLICTED SUCH HEAVY CASUALTIES THAT THE JAPANESE BEGAN TO WITHDRAW. PRIVATE DAWSON WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR HIS BRAVERY. (FILM STILL)
