Group portrait of the Victorian RAN survivors of the sinking of the corvette HMAS Wallaroo off the Australian coast, sixty miles (96 kilomentres) west of Fremantle, Western Australia, on the night of the 10/11 June 1943, when the Wallaroo was rammed by the US Liberty ship, Henry Gilbert Costin killing two of the corvette's crewmen and wounding her captain. A third crewman, PM2278 Able Seaman (AB) John Joseph Clarke, was lost overboard and presumed dead. Those killed in the collision were H1875 AB Daris Leo Bernard Cowen and 2551 Motor Mechanic George William Garratty.
