Hiro, Japan. 1952-10-28. Portrait of 4/4000046 Warrant Officer 2 (WO2) Leonard (Len) Murray Opie DCM, 3rd Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Then Corporal (Cpl) Opie was awarded the DCM for bravery leading an attack on Chinese positions at Hill 614, Korea, on 27 February 1950. Later commissioned, Len Opie served with the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) ,as an Australian Army representative with the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and retired with the rank of Major.
