Description
An outstanding effort by Allied troops including Australian Corps, British, Free French and Indian formations saw the capture of Damour and Damascus in June - July 1941 resulting in the Vichy French collapse. These actions were recorded by Australian troops in this inscription engraved on stone during the construction of the Haifa-Tripoli railway.
