With him in the jeep are Australians Brigadier Charles Spry; Major General G. S. Allen, Commander, 7th Division AIF; and Lieutenant General Edmund Herring (partially hidden by the jeep driver). In the jeep behind is Australian General Sir Thomas Blamey with other staff officers. This was Gen MacArthur's first visit to New Guinea.
