Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Charles Henry Alexander, 9 Light Trench Mortar Battery, Sydney and Newcastle, NSW, England and France, 14 June 1915-15 May 1917. Collection comprises typewritten copies of letters to his mother describing officer training in Australia and England and service in France. Biographical note: Lieutenant Charles Henry Alexander, 9 Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery, AIF. Killed in action, Belgium, 8 June 1917. Age 33. Born Dublin. Son of David McGowan Alexander and Emily Frances Alexander of 71 Frankfort Avenue, Dublin, Ireland.
