Baker, William Emanuel (Bombardier, b.? - d.1918)
Collection relating to service of 28471 Bombardier William Emanuel Baker, 2 Field Artillery Brigade, France, 1916-1918. Collection includes copies of Baker's diary; copies of letters regarding Baker's death, and copies of condolence letters. Typescript copies made by the Australian War Memorial 1927. Location of originals unknown.
The diary indicates Baker's moods -- boredom on the ship over; adverse opinions of Chaplains on board, and dissatisfaction with the amenities, food and news available on board ship. There are good descriptions of London and sightseeing.
