Description

Collection relating to service of Lieutenant Owen Cressy Barry, 12 Light Horse Regiment and 4 Squadron Australian Flying Corps. Collection includes copies of Barry's diary describing actions on Gallipoli and a number of condolence letters and letters written conveying the circumstances of Barry's death in aerial action over France. In response to a request by the Memorial for material, Barry's father made a typed copy of his son's diary and also typed copies of some of the letters. The Memorial photocopied the material and returned the original material to Major Arthur Cressy Barry. Location of originals unknown. Material bound into file cover.

Biographical note: Lieutenant Owen Cressy Barry, 4 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps. Killed in action, 11 May 1918. Age 25. Son of Arthur Cressy Barry, of 182 Kurraba Rd., Neutral Bay, New South Wales, and the late Edwyna Barry. Born at Harwood Island, New South Wales.
