Collection relating to service of Captain Claude Elmhurst Benson, 9 Battalion, Gallipoli and France, 1915-1916. Collection includes extracts from letters written to his mother. Extracts made in 1927 by Benson family in response to request by Australian War Memorial. Location of originals unknown.

Biographical note: Captain Claude Elmhurst Benson, DCM, 9 Battalion, Australian Infantry. Killed in action, France, 2 July 1916. Age 26. Son of Edward Ernest and Elizabeth Benson, of Lane Cove Rd., Ryde, New South Wales.
