Condon, Richard Merrick (Second Lieutenant, b.? - d.1916)
Collection relating to service of Lieutenant Richard Merrick Condon, 22 Battalion, Egypt, Gallipoli and France, 1915-1916. Collection includes diaries of Condon written while on service and letters written home to his family in Prahran VIC.
Biographical note: Second Lieutenant, 22nd Bn, AIF. Clerk, of Prahran, VIC, born Beaconsfield, WA; educated Malvern and South Yarra State Schools, VIC; was an officer in the Senior Cadets, joined AIF 1915, posted 22 Battalion; 1 April 1915 - promoted Sergeant; 14 September 1915- acting Company Sergeant Major; 12 November 1915 - Company Sergeant Major; 2 August 1916 - Second Lieutenant; 5 August 1916 - killed in action at Pozieres. Son of 4762 Private John Denis Condon, 46 Battalion, who was wounded at Pozieres but who rejoined his Battalion and was killed 11 June 1917.
