Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Eric Henry Drummond Edgerton, MM, DSO, 24 Battalion, Gallipoli, Egypt and France, 5 January 1915 - 11 August 1918. Collection consists of a typewritten copy of diary kept by Lieutenant Edgerton Gallipoli, 1915-1918. Copy made 1928 by Australian War Memorial. Location of original unknown.

History / Summary

Biographical note: Lieutenant, DSO MM & Bar, 24 Battalion, AIF. Student; of Caulfield, VIC; born Moonee Ponds, VIC; educated Balaclava State School and Wesley College, Melbourne; received an award from the Royal Life Saving Society, 1914. Interested in his great grandfather who fought at Waterloo; served in the Senior Cadets; age at time of death 21 years 4 months; joined AIF 1915 and served in Gallipoli, Egypt and France; commanded the Australian detachment at the Review of Allied Troops held at Versailles in mid 1918.
