History / Summary

Biographical note: 8 Field Company Engineers. Surveyor of Brisbane; born Woongarra, QLD, 1886 (or 1888); enlisted 18 April 1914, and embarked with 3 Field Company; commissioned on 26 July 1915 and posted to 5 Field Company; promoted Lieutenant 26 August 1915; transferred to 8 Field Company; promoted Captain 14 March 1916; Major 21 March 1917; left England for Australia 2 January 1919. Two brothers also served: 735 Private Mure Robertson Farquhar, 18 Battalion and Lieutenant N G Farquhar MC, Kings Royal Rifle Corps.
