Collection relating to the service of Captain Arthur Marshall McIntosh, Dental Corps, AIF, Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front. Collection consists of letters, notebooks, and a brief type-written memoir compiled by Captain McIntosh, outlining his period of service with the AIF. Of particular interest are his notes regarding the opposition he encountered in his efforts to provide dental services to men on active service.

Captain Arthur Marshall McIntosh, Dental Corps, AAMC, Dentist of Sydney, NSW; born Gordon,NSW, 18 February 1881; joined the AIF on 16 September, 1914 and was appointed a Lance Corporal; 27 July 1915 - attached to 1 Division HQ; 16 August 1915 - appointed Lieutenant; 31 December 1915 - attached to 1 Field Ambulance at Mudros; 28 January 1916 - to No. 2 Stationary Hospital, Ismailia; 4 February 1916 returned to 1 Field Ambulance; 22 March 1916 - left Egypt for France; 25 July 1916 - to 6 Field Ambulance; 11 September 1916 - to II Anzac Corps HQ; 1 January 1917 - to No. 18 Dental Unit, attached to 1 Field Ambulance; 10 January 1917 - taken on strength of No. 3 Training Battalion, England; 25 April 1917 - to 16 Field Ambulance; 26 June 1917 - to 63 Battalion; 11 March 1918 - to Engineering training depot; 20 October 1918 - AROD, Longmoor; 26 April 1919 - AIF appointment terminated.
