History / Summary

In the foreword to his memoir, Lieutenant McKie wrote: "This is simply an account of my experiences from the day I enlisted, 4th February, 1915, until I got back to New South Wales on the 7th February 1919. It does not contain anything which can be of much interest outside the family circle, and it is written chiefly for them, but more especially for my little son, [Duncan] who, when he grows older, is sure to be interested in the events of that stirring time."
