Collection relating to the service of Colonel Charles MacLaurin, No. 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, AIF, France, 1916, and Colonel Henry Normand MacLaurin, 1 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, AIF, Egypt, 1914-1915. Collection consists of four letters written by Colonel Henry MacLaurin to his brother Colonel Charles MacLaurin, and six letter written by Colonel Charles MacLaurin to his wife, Anne Bithial MacLaurin.

History / Summary

Biographical note: Lieutenant Colonel Charles Maclaurin, AAMC, AIF. Surgeon of Sydney, born Sydney, NSW, 22 November 1872; 20 August 1915 appointed a Lt. Colonel in the AIF; 22 November 1915 posted to No. 3 London General Hospital, Wandsworth, as consulting surgeon; 16 July 1916 attached to No. 2 Casualty Clearing Station; 17 January 1917, AIF appointment terminated. Died 19 April 1925.

Biographical note: Colonel Henry Normand Maclaurin, 1 Brigade Headquarters. Mentioned in Despatches. Killed in action 27th April, 1915. Age 37. Son of Henry Normand MacLaurin (Chancellor of the University of Sydney) and Eliza Ann MacLaurin.
