Collection relating to the service of 1594 Private Stephen Watson Marwick, 2 Battalion, AIF, Gallipoli, 1915. Collection consists of a handwritten copy of a brief extract from a notebook belonging to Private Marwick. The copy was made by Marwick's mother, Mary Anne Marwick, of Nottingham, England.

History / Summary

Biographical note: 1594 Private Stephen Watson Marwick, 2 Battalion, AIF, who on 27 June 1915 was killed in action at Anzac. Other biographical details concerning him are; seaman; born South Shields, Durham, England; educated at the Royal Merchant Seamen's Orphanage, Snaresbrook, Essex; was serving in the SS La Blanca when he joined the AIF on 2 December 1914; took part in the Landing at Anzac, was wounded on 27 April 1915 and sent to Alexandria; rejoined unit some weeks later and was killed on 27 June 1915, age at time of death, 21 years 4 months. Son of Mary Ann Marwick, of Rose Villas, Bingham Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottingham, England.
