Biographical note: 2787B Private Charles Archibald ("Banjo") Simpson, 10 Battalion, AIF, who between 19 and 23 August 1916 was killed in the vicinity of Mouquet Farm (Pozieres). Other biographical details concerning him are: clerk (in Government Land & Survey Office, Adelaide) of Henley Beach, South Australia, born Horsey, London, England; educated at the Central Foundation school, Cowper Street, London; came to Australia when 19 years old; age at time of death, 23 years 9 months.
