Smith, Lancelot Cropley (Private, b.1897 - d.1917)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 12306 Private Lancelot Cropley Smith, 10th Field Ambulance, France. Collections consists of typed extracts of letters written home between 1916 - 1918. The letters describe camp life in England and German POW's. Smith also discusses work in France, billets, and the push at Messines in June 1917. Also included are letters relating to the circumstances surrounding Smith's death on 15 October 1917 after being wounded in action in Belgium.
