Collection relating to the service of 373 Lance Corporal Harry Joseph Sinclair Smith, 3rd Battalion, AIF, at sea, Egypt, Gallipoli, 1914-1915. Collection consists of typed extracts from his diary covering October 1914 to June 1915 and typed extracts from letters covering January to May 1915. Typed extracts made in 1931 by the Australian War Memorial. Location of originals unknown.

Biographical notes: 373 Lance Corporal Harry Joseph Sinclair Smith, 3 Battalion, AIF. Civil servant (Lands Department, Sydney); of Naremburn, NSW; born Balmain, NSW, 12 June 1895; educated at Kogarak State School and Sydney Grammar School; joined the AIF on 22 August 1914; killed in action at Gallipoli, 23 June 1915, aged 20. Son of James John and Hannah Smith, of Harris St., Sans Souci, New South Wales.
