Miles, Thomas Alfred (Lieutenant, b.1889 - d.1979)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 258 Lieutenant Thomas Alfred Miles, 12 Battalion and 3 Light Trench Mortar Battery. Carbon copies of diaries written in letter form. Covers service from enlistment in August 1914 to return to Australia in February 1919. The diaries contain regular detailed entries. Lt Miles saw active service in Egypt, Gallipoli where he was wounded, and France. Lt Miles was awarded a Military Cross in his actions in operations east of Ypres in September 1917.
