Foreman, Granado Walter (b.1894 - d.1917)
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Granado Walter Foreman, 5th Battalion AIF and later Royal Flying Corps. Collection consists of 3 diaries for 1915, 1916 and 1917. The 1915 diary commences on 23 November and describes the departure of 12th Reinforcements 5th Battalion from Melbourne, crossing the Equator, travelling up the Suez Canal, and the camp at Abbassis. The 1916 diary continues from Egypt until the move to England in June. In October Foreman was appointed as 2nd Lieutenant in the RFC and undertook a training course at Oxford. The 1917 diary commences with arriving at Gosport and having the "first flight in my life" on 4 January, the remainder of the diary which finishes on 13 July describes flying in England and then France. Foreman was killed in action the following day.
