Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Major General Newton J Moore. Moore commanded Australian & New Zealand Base Depots, Weymouth, 1915; and GOC AIF Depots in the United Kingdom, 1915-1917. Collection consists of:
1. A report: Portland Command. Australian and New Zealand Base Depot, Monte Video Camp, Weymouth.
2. Extracts from letters received by Moore relating to his promotion.
3. Report by Moore on the administration of the Australian Imperial Force Depots in United Kingdom, 1916-1919.
4. Review of troops, 1916 and 1917.
5. Report by Moore on the establishment and administration of the Australian and New Zealand Depots in the United Kingdom, from 29 May 1915 until 31 May 1916.

Major General Hon Sir Newton J Moore KDMG VD was born in Fremantle WA on 17 May 1870. He was the Premier of WA serveral times, Agent-General for WA, 1911-1918; commanded Australian & New Zealand Base Depots, Weymouth, 1915; and GOC AIF Depots in the United Kingdom, 1915-1917.
