MOROTAI, HALMAHERAS, NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. 1944-09-15. DETAIL VIEW OF THE AFTER STARBOARD SUPERSTRUCTURE OF THE CRUISER HMAS SHROPSHIRE AS SHE BOMBARDS MOROTAI ISLAND WITH HER 8 INCH GUNS. AT THE TOP LEFT IS THE LANTERN FOR THE TYPE 271 SURFACE SEARCH RADAR. IT IS PARTLY OBSCURING THE HIGH ANGLE DIRECTOR FOR THE SECONDARY ARMAMENT WITH ITS TYPE 285 FIRE CONTROL RADAR. TO THE RIGHT IS THE DIRECTOR, FITTED WITH TYPE 282 FIRE CONTROL RADAR, FOR THE EIGHT BARRELLED 2 POUNDER AA MOUNTING BELOW IT. NOTE THE FULL AMMUNITION FEEDRAILS ON THE SIDE.
