Harpley, Robert William (Private, b.1893 - d.1970)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War diary of 2963 Private Robert William Harpley, 55th Infantry Battalion. Collection consists of a handwritten diary (in two parts) covering 30 September 1915 to 28 November 1916. The diary includes regular entries describing his embarkation, garrrison duty at Suez, training in Egypt and service in France. The diary appears to have been written up in manscript form following the war.
