Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 560 Lieutenant (Lt) James Joseph Greatorex who served with 1 Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Squadron from 1914-1919. Comprises a black and white photocopy of a handwritten diary kept by Lt Greatorex, from the time of his enlistment in September 1914, until his return home to Victoria in August 1919. His diary describes his voyage to Egypt, service on the Gallipoli Peninsula, action at Romani and service in Palestine. He also mentions visits to England and America.
