Colonel George Barber
Description
Portrait of Colonel George Walter Barber (1868-1951) , CB, DSO, MID , Deputy Director Medical Services (DDMS), Australian Corps during the First World War. Barber was born in Lancashire, England and came to Australia in 1894. He was a Government Medical Officer and Medical Officer of Health in Plagiaries, Western Australia. He served in the Army Medical Corps, AIF and was Commanding Officer No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital. He also served with the 4th Australian Division until April 1918 and received the Croix de Guerre.
