Pioneer peronne palladium
Description
Depicts 5th Pioneer Battalion Concert Hall, Peronne. Built in chalk quarries just outside Peronne from salvaged material in September 1918. Contains a fine stage with scenery painted by members of the Pioneer Battalion, a boxing ring and graduated seating accommodation for 500 men. Opened by the "Kookaburras" 5th Division Concert Party on September. Afterwards accupied by the Blue Diamonds 7th Brigade Concert Party.
Wilfred Lewis King served with the 60th Battalion during the First World War. In 1918 he was transferred to the 5th Australian Division Concert Party.
