Khurbet Sihan
Description
Khurbet Sihan is south-east of Gaza and a site of fighting during the first and second battles for Gaza in 1917. Major Charles Stodart, who had fought in the second of these battles of 19 April 1917, was Lambert's guide. Lambert was encouraged to paint as many of these places as possible as they were "the scenes of fighting where the Australian & New Zealand troops did conspicuous work".
