Contours, south of France
Description
Depicts a landscape with farm buildings and trees foreground, steep cliffs in the background. George Lambert travelled by train through France and Italy en route to Palestine in 1918. He made a visual note of the passing landscape with a quick outline of the topography and a few stokes to indicate trees and houses: "Contours south of France. Sketched in passing from train. Very impressive landscape hereabouts. We are all feeling a bit cleaner & better."
