Sketchbook containing 24 pages of drawings made behind the battle lines in France and Belgium
Description
A sketch book containing 24 pages of pencil drawings and watercolours of various scenes behind the battle lines in France and Belgium. This includes pen and ink and watercolour sketches of trench life, camping facilities, ruins and abandoned battlefields. The sketchbook is Australian War Records issue, with khaki coloured linen covers and an elastic strap on the front cover. The artist, Joseph Burton Meldrum (service no. 7257), was a Sapper with the 5th Field Coy Engineers, Australian Imperial Force.
