Messines as I saw it June 9th 1917
Description
Ruined buildings are visible on the skyline with shells bursting in wasteland in the foreground. Major Edwin Summerhayes, originally an architect in Perth, Western Australia, served with the 44th Battalion on the Western Front and fought at the Battle of Messines.
