Depicts the war-ravaged landscape of the road to Flers in the Somme region. In the centre is a transport vehicle submerged in the muddy terrain. While off to the centre left are two abandoned wagon wheels. Barren, war damaged trees scattered across the horizon further emphasise this ravaged landscape and the impact of war. Flers is situated in the Somme region, to the south of the road between Albert and Bapaume.
