John Longstaff
Description
Depicts a portrait of an officer John Longstaff (later Sir) (1862-1941). Sir John Longstaff was an Australian artist, best known for his portraiture. In 1918 Longstaff was appointed an Australian official war artist attached to the Australian Imperial Forces, working in France, May-June and September-October 1918, undertaking portraits of distinguished Australian servemen. He was awarded the Archibald Prize for portraiture five times.
