Work and talk around the hatch
Description
Men working and talking around the hatch. Curtis wrote of this image that: For recording exactly what I saw and with strict impartiality I was accused by the boilermakers afterwards of "undermining" the interests of the working man and threatened with immersion in the PARRAMATTA (sic.). This situation however existed in some yards more than in others. In each yard or shop there seemed to be a small percentage of unsatisfactory workers, and a small number of growlers and trouble makers. The rest were "dinkum" workers who would have made any shipyard proud of its men.
