Native built Army chapel
Description
Pictured whilst still in its constructive stages, this chapel was built on the usual cruciform plan but was constructed in the traditional native manner thus regaining much of the natural dignity that had been lost in so many wooden churches of the time. On the left the west end of the nave can be seen, whilst the north transept can be seen through the uprights, and the south transept is seen more clearly on the right. The chapel was dedicated in September 1944 and used by all denominational services, including Anglican, Roman Catholic, Non-Conformist, and Hebrew.
