No. 5 Barge Point, Empress Augusta Bay
Description
This drawing gives an idea of the scene beside the bay in the Jaba River area, where barge points, with their characteristic signs, are suitably placed. These markers were very useful, for natural landmarks were almost non-existent owing to the flatness of the land and the thickness of the vegetation. The beach and foreshore facilitate traffic, such as the trucks pictured, and barges provide supplies to the bay. An old Japanese Observation Post can be seen in the tree.
