Private Betty Bernaldo
Depicts VF395618 Private Betty Bernaldo, Australian Women's Army Service (AWAS), Vehicle Outfit Log checker, No 1 Australian Base Ordnance Depot; canned food transportation case in front (the case is standing on its side and the wire framed can restraint has been swung to the side to enable cans to be extracted. The three 'vertical tubes' are panniers to contain the cans for storage during transportation. The box and panniers were a standard shape to accept a standard number of cans to conform to a standard weight to simplify logistic handling. The box is generally constructed from wood and may be screwed or nailed. The half moon shaped holes are grab-handle cutouts to aid in transportation and storage. These containers are now quite rare. Unfortunately the drawing is lacking some detail and the perspective is slightly distorted.)
