Wounded native carrier (Kanjingai)
Description
Depicts a portrait of Kanjingai, a native carrier for Australian New Guinea Administration Unit (ANGAU), was with a patrol of Commandos when he was wounded in an encounter with the Japanese in a village called Tong. He was shot in the chest, recovering in 104 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, this drawing was made whilst he was awake, Aitape, New Guinea.
