Beaufort Pilot (Squadron Leader Harvey Charlesworth)
Description
A portrait of Squadron Leader Harvey Charlesworth during flight. The artist, Mainwaring, was sent to New Guinea as an Australian Army artist in 1942 and completed many portraits of military personnel during his time there. Charlesworth has his back to the viewer and is in full uniform strapped into his seat. Mainwaring has included the mechanics of the pilot's seat, but few other details of the cockpit are visible.
