Night life in a cruiser, HMAS "Hobart"
Description
No.3 Fire and Repair Party sleeping a their action stations during a night sweep in the Mediterranean Sea. Scene in Wardroom Flat at 2200 hours. One man is on watch; the others sleep. One or two in hammocks but most of them on the deck in battle dress. Each man has his tin hat, respirator, anti-flash gear, "Mae West" and other gear such as torch etc. Stowed against the bulk-head are baulks of timber for shoring up in the event of damage to section of the ship. At sea this sleeping arrangement is routine, men carrying on with ordinary day duties, Mediterranean Sea.
