Portrait depicting an unidentified soldier. Dargie noted of this work, "VETERAN - of two wars, 1914-1948 and the present war. Whilst this study was being made the sitter was greatly perturbed because he was afraid that his real age would be discovered if the drawing appeared under its present title. Like so many other old soldiers, he had put back the clock a little to join up again".
