Description

Australian soldiers are splitting timber for the corduroy track. Dargie noted, "Some of the swampy and steep parts of this trail would have been impassable for large bodies of troops and supplies without the reinforcement provided by this corduroy. The engineers, both Australian and America, played a great part in the opening up of this supply line".
