Description
This dormitory which accommodated 24 girls was attached to the weekend Hostel for Servicewomen, Black Rock. Information received from the Matron in charge, Mrs Morse: "The Country Women's Association of Victoria loaned the Hostel for the duration of the war. Evacuees from Hong Kong and Singapore (eleven mothers and twenty children) were in residence for three years. For the remaining year and nine months, this holiday home was used exclusively by girls of the services and the Land Army, in connection with the YMCA, during the entire occupation, 5000 beds were used'.
