Portrait of QX36074 Captain Robert Black, Australian Army Medical Service, pathologist, 106 Casualty Clearing Station, 2 AIF. His head is turned to the right, and he holds a cigarette in his left hand. Heysen married Captain Black in 1953. "They met at Finschhafen in the war, when he was an A.I.F. medical officer" (The Age Oct 6, 1962).
