Captain Nakata
Description
Depicts a head and shoulders portrait of a Japanese officer, Captain Nakata. His neck is bandaged as he had tried to commit suicide on a number of occasions. Douglas Watson (1920-1972) served as an official war artist during World War II and exhibited at the Royal Academy in London as well as with the New South Wales Society of Artists and the Contemporary Art Group.
